Tournament Rules

THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The Championship is a 72 hole event and will be played over 4 rounds of Stroke Play. The rounds will be played as 18 holes on the following days:

Round 1 – Saturday 5th April 2025

Round 2 – Sunday 6th April 2025 (AM)

Round 3 – Saturday 12th April 2025

Round 4 – Sunday 13th April 2025 (PM)

Enter all rounds on MiClub with only the last round being seeded. Only the top 8 Gross players and the top 8 Nett players will be seeded.

The Champion will be the player with the best Gross score over the stipulated 4 rounds.

There will also be a Nett Champion, being the player with the best Nett score over the stipulated 4 rounds.

CONTROL OF PLAY

The decision of the Match Committee will be final in all matters and has the right to alter or vary

Conditions of Play within the Rules of Golf should it be deemed advisable or necessary.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Players must be a full, concessional, junior, FIFO, senior or life member of Albany Golf Club.

Once a player has entered Round 1 and played 18 holes he will be deemed to have entered the Championship.

The normal competition fee is to be paid for each round.

Players must be at their tee 10 minutes before their designated time, unless prior approval is given by the Match Committee.

All Club Championship rounds are to be played off the BLUE tees.

Every round is also a standard competition round, where players may play off any of the blue, white, red or yellow tees. Players using the white, red or yellow tees are deemed to be only playing that day’s competition and are not playing in the Championship. All players competing in the Championship are also eligible to win that day’s competition prize, having paid the standard entry fee.

RULES

The Rules of Golf as adopted by the R & A Rules Limited will apply and the Local Rules of Albany Golf Club.

If a competitor is doubtful of his rights or the correct procedure during the play of a hole, he may without penalty, complete the hole with 2 balls (under Rule 3.3 R&A Rules). After the doubtful situation has arisen and before taking further action, the competitor must announce to his marker that he intends to play 2 balls and which he wishes to count if the Rules permit. The Competitor must report the facts of the situation to the Committee before returning his scorecard. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

PACE OF PLAY

Rule 5.6 - Unreasonable Delay; Prompt Pace of Play, will be enforced. Each group must maintain its position on the course with respect to the group preceding it. Any group with a clear hole in front of it, will be considered out of position.

TIES

The Champion of the Gross event will be decided by a playoff over holes 1 & 18 (repeated until a winner is decided). The Nett Champion will be determined on a countback with the best last 18 hole score being the winner, or last 9, 6 then 3 holes if scores continue to be tied.

HANDICAPS

The handicap each player starts in the first round with remains the same for the purpose of scoring in the Nett Championship. Everyone’s handicap will automatically adjust after each round for the purpose of each subsequent individual competition during the Championship.

SCORECARDS

Players must register on MiClub 20 minutes before their tee time in the Pro Shop. Miscore is the preferred method of scoring but paper cards will be accepted. On completion of each round, the scorecard must be signed by the player and marker and then submitted to the Pro Shop.

MOTORISED GOLF VEHICLES

Use of motorised golf vehicles is not permitted for the Gross event. Carts are permitted for those playing in the Nett event.

2 STROKE PENALTY DROP FOR LOST BALL OR BALL OUT OF BOUNDS

This local rule is not available to members for the Club Championships. Stroke and distance rules apply.

DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES

Distance measuring devices are permitted.

DRUG POLICY

A competitor shall not knowingly make use of any drug to enhance his performance as laid down in Golf Australia’s Doping Policy.
